So much for “Democracy breaking out all over the Middle East,” as Obama likes to say…

by barenakedislam

“Islam is the solution,” says formerly banned Muslim Brotherhood as it prepares to impose Sharia law on Egypt. Screw the Coptic Christians.

There is no such thing as “Islamic democracy,” says Mohamed Morsi, one of three leading candidates for the presidency of Egypt,  the American-educated engineer who leads the Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood.

As Egypt’s most powerful political movement, controlling half of parliament, winning the presidency would give the Muslim Brotherhood – and Mr. Morsi – sweeping power to control Egypt’s future. A Morsi government would tilt toward a fundamentalist theocracy, reflecting the Muslim Brotherhood slogan – “Islam is the solution.”

Obama’s Literary Agent in 1991 Booklet: ‘Born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii’

By Pamal Geller:

It is interesting that all that I blogged about Obama in late 2007 and all of 2008 that was at first ignored and then derided and discredited has all been validated as accurate and true in the ensuing years.

My Obama book, The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America, researched and written largely before the election, warned of his viciously anti-American circle of Jew-hating subversives (Khalid Al-Mansour, Rashid Khalidi, Frank Marshall Davis, Raila Odinga, Ayers and Dohrn, Muslim turned Black Liberation ‘preacher’ Jeremiah Wright, et al. You would be hard pressed to find a more gruesome mob.

Obama is a complete fiction, Zelig. And that which we do know about him to be true is subversive and dangerous.

As for the “birthers,” we have long  known that there was something on the long form (the vault copy) that Obama did not want us to see.

The enemedia have a lot to answer for.

Breitbart Exclusive - Obama’s Literary Agent in 1991 Booklet: ‘Born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii’

Breitbart News has obtained a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama’s then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which touts Obama as “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.”

The booklet, which was distributed to “business colleagues” in the publishing industry, includes a brief biography of Obama among the biographies of eighty-nine other authors represented by Acton & Dystel.

It also promotes Obama’s anticipated first book, Journeys in Black and White–which Obama abandoned, later publishing Dreams from My Father instead.

Obama’s biography in the booklet is as follows (image and text below):

Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.  The son of an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, he attended Columbia University and worked as a financial journalist and editor for Business International Corporation.   He served as project coordinator in Harlem for the New York Public Interest Research Group, and was Executive Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago’s South Side. His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White.

The booklet, which is thirty-six pages long, is printed in blue ink (and, on the cover, silver/grey ink), using offset lithography. It purports to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of Acton & Dystel, which was founded in 1976.

[...]

Jay Acton no longer represents Obama. However, Jane Dystel still lists Obama as a client on her agency’s website.

According to the booklet itself, the text was edited by Miriam Goderich, who has since become Dystel’s partner at Dystel & Goderich, an agency founded in 1994. Breitbart News attempted to reach Goderich by telephone several times over several days. Her calls are screened by an automated service that requires callers to state their name and company, which we did. She never answered.

The design of the booklet was undertaken by Richard Bellsey, who has since closed his business. Bellsey, reached by telephone, could not recall the exact details of the booklet, but told Breitbart News that it “sounds like one of our jobs, like I did for [Acton & Dystel] twenty years ago or more.”

The parade of authors alongside Obama in the booklet includes politicians, such as former Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill; sports legends, such as Joe Montana and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; and numerous Hollywood celebrities.

The reverse side of the page that features Barack Obama includes former Green Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader and early-1990s “boy band” pop sensation New Kids On the Block.

Acton, who spoke to Breitbart News by telephone, confirmed precise details of the booklet and said that it cost the agency tens of thousands of dollars to produce.

He indicated that while “almost nobody” wrote his or her own biography, the non-athletes in the booklet, whom “the agents deal[t] with on a daily basis,” were “probably” approached to approve the text as presented.

Dystel did not respond to numerous requests for comment, via email and telephone. Her assistant told Breitbart News that Dystel “does not answer questions about Obama.”

The errant Obama biography in the Acton & Dystel booklet does not contradict the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate. Moreover, several contemporaneous accounts of Obama’s background describe Obama as having been born in Hawaii.

The biography does, however, fit a pattern in which Obama–or the people representing and supporting him–manipulate his public persona.

David Maraniss’s forthcoming biography of Obama has reportedly confirmed, for example, that a girlfriend Obama described in Dreams from My Father was, in fact, an amalgam of several separate individuals.

In addition, Obama and his handlers have a history of redefining his identity when expedient. In March 2008, for example, he famously declared: “I can no more disown [Jeremiah Wright] than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother.”

Several weeks later, Obama left Wright’s church–and, according to Edward Klein’s new biography, The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House, allegedly attempted to persuade Wright not to “do any more public speaking until after the November [2008] election” (51).

Obama has been known frequently to fictionalize aspects of his own life. During his 2008 campaign, for instance, Obama claimed that his dying mother had fought with insurance companies over coverage for her cancer treatments.

That turned out to be untrue, but Obama has repeated the story–which even the Washington Post called “misleading”–in a campaign video for the 2012 election.

The Acton & Dystel biography could also reflect how Obama was seen by his associates, or transitions in his own identity. He is said, for instance, to have cultivated an “international” identity until well into his adulthood, according to Maraniss.

Regardless of the reason for Obama’s odd biography, the Acton & Dystel booklet raises new questions as part of ongoing efforts to understand Barack Obama–who, despite four years in office remains a mystery to many Americans, thanks to the mainstream media.

Texas Imam, Main Al-Qudah, issues call to action to support clitoridectomies

By Pamala Geller:

“Dr.” Main Al-Qudah is the imam at the MAS Katy Center in Texas (MAS is Muslim Brotherhood) and a member of AMJA (Muslim Jurists of America) Fatwa Committee. The fatwa committee of AMJA issued a fatwa claiming clitorectomies are an honor and obligation for American Muslimas.

He has sent out the following mass mailing urging support of female genital mutliation (clitorectomies).

Assalaamu alaikum, Brothers and Sisters.
I would like to enjoin upon you all a call to action. Dr. Hatem Al-Haj is a respected scholar in the Muslim community. He is also a physician. He is currently being attacked by some people who are skewing his beliefs and opinions regarding female circumcision.

In this time of mass ignorance of and fear regarding the Islamic faith, please take a moment to visit this website to know who Dr. Hatem is, what his accusers are saying, and hear the opinions of the Shaykh in his own words.

Dr. Hatem Al-Haj’s Website

If you agree that he has been misrepresented, please sign the petition. In a time when it is too easy to damage a person’s reputation and credibility, I urge you to take a stand against this injustice.

Your Brother in Faith,

Dr. Main Al-Qudah
Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies
Imam, MAS Katy Center
Member, AMJA Fatwa Committee

“Dr.” Al-Qudah also supports muliple wives. “Polygamy is permissible when justice between wives is guaranteed.” Yeah, right. He’s a real piece of work, this one.

The AMJA is Muslim Jurists of America. AMJA cautions Muslims against participating in the American Legal System and urges them to “Hate It in Their Hearts” (here).

Translating Jihad has more on the AMJA clitorectomy fatwa (via A. Bostom):

AMJA rulings also support the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM), which the United Nations has called “a dangerous and potentially life-threatening procedure that causes unspeakable pain and suffering.” Fatwa #1639 from Dr. Hatem al-Haj justifies the horrific practice, saying:

[…] Some extremists from the west and their devout followers in the Muslim world like to brand all circumcision as female genital mutilation (FGM). For those, we say, why is male circumcision not MGM? Male circumcision is widely practiced in the west. Yet it would be considered by the Chinese MGM (Male Genital Mutilation).

The benefits of male circumcision are beginning to be more recognized in the medical societies, even though still contested by a few. Fifty years ago, no one knew that male circumcision has medical benefits. The same could be true with female circumcision. They may figure out the benefits of the practice in fifty or five hundred years. […]

A concordant fatwa issued in Arabic (translation by Al-Mutarjim) on the website of the Secretary-General of AMJA and the chief member of its Resident Fatwa Committee, Dr. Salah Al-Sawy, declares that FGM is “an honor” for women:

But for the woman, the purpose [of circumcision] is the benefit that it has in lessening her lust, which is a wholesome request. There is no harm in removing it. In short, female circumcision is an honor (which) does not rise to the level of a duty, in clear language. Stated another way, it is neither forbidden nor required.

Another Arabic-language fatwa (translation by Al-Mutarjim) from Dr. Al-Sawy leaves open the possibility for offensive jihad against America and the West, as soon as Muslims are strong enough to do so. When asked whether “the Islamic missionary effort in the West…[was] to the point where it could take advantage of offensive jihad,” Al-Sawy ruled:

[…] The Islamic community does not possess the strength to engage in offensive jihad at this time. With our current capabilities, we are aspiring toward defensive jihad, and to improve our position with regards to jurisprudence at this stage. But there is a different discussion for each situation. Allah Almighty knows best.[emphasis added]

I bet he does.

Iranian official calls for “Islamic awakening” to destroy Israel

By Robert Spencer:

But of course he doesn’t mean it — we all know that. We know the Israel/Palestinian conflict has nothing to do with Islam. It has to do with land, and a negotiated settlement will soon save the day. Everyone in Washington tells us so, so it must be true, right?

“Iranian Calls for ‘Islamic Awakening’ to Destroy Israel,” by Elad Benari for Israel National News, May 17 (thanks to Voice of the Copts):

An Iranian official called this week for an ‘Islamic Awakening’ movement to help Palestinian Authority Arabs “demolish the Zionist regime”, the IRNA news agency reported. The comments were made at a conference in Tehran in honor of Nakba Day – the day of catastrophe – which is what the Arabs call the English date of May 15, when the State of Israel was re-established with a declaration of independence in 1948.

In a brief address at the end of the conference, the official, Hossein Shiekholeslam said, “In success of a revolution three major factors need to play effective roles, and they are the people, the leadership, and the school of thought, or ideology.”

He added, “If we wish success for the Palestinians, the existence of these three factors is necessary, as they did exist in the case of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.”

Sheikholeslam said that “In near future the Islamic Awakening movement would also swallow the Zionist regime.”…

Indonesia: Muslim mob throws stones and bags of urine at Christians at Ascension Day service

By Robert Spencer:

Will the Islamophobia never end? Islamic Tolerance Alert from modern, moderate Indonesia: “Hardliners in Bekasi Throw Stones at Ascension Day Service,” by Camelia Pasandaran for the Jakarta Globe, May 17 (thanks to Twostellas):

A mob of Islamic hard-liners threw stones and bags of urine at the HKBP Filadelphia congreagation of the Batak Christian Protestant Church in Bekasi, on the outskirts of Jakarta, at an Ascension Day service on Thursday. Police tried to stop the mob of some 300 people, but were also attacked, according to reports.“They assaulted the congregation members,” Rev. Palti Panjaitan told the Jakarta Globe on Thursday. “Police tried to talk to them, but the mob passed through police and showered us with urine and dirty water. Others threw stones at us.”

The mob reportedly attacked the congregation as the service started, and also shouted profanity and threats.

Even after the service, which lasted one-and-a-half hours, the mob chased after us,” Rev. Palti said. “Thank God the police escorted us to a safe area.

HKBP Filadelphia submitted an application for a building permit in 2007, but church leaders say that despite meeting all the requirements, including the agreement of their neighbors, a permit was never issued.

On Dec. 31, 2009, the Bekasi district head issued a letter banning the members of the congregation from worshiping on the land, forcing the 560 members to hold services along the side of the road fronting the property.

In July 2011, the Supreme Court overruled the Bekasi administration’s decision, saying the church was eligible for a building permit. The court ordered Bekasi to issue one — but the district government ignored the ruling.

Members of the congregation say that Islamic hard-liners have been intimidating and threatening them at their services since January.

INDONESIA: GAGA IS A NO NO

by barenakedislam

Lady Gaga has been declined a permit to perform in the world’s largest, and what Hillary Clinton called the most ‘moderate’ Muslim country in the world, after fundamentalist groups said her risque outfits and dance moves would undermine Islamic values and corrupt the country’s youth.

TELEGRAPH  Indonesia’s national police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said the permit for her June 3 “Born This Way Ball” concert – the biggest show on her Asian tour – had been denied.

The local promoter, Michael Rusli, could not immediately be reached for comment. Earlier, he said it would be “regrettable” if police didn’t give the clearance.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting Lady Gaga, he said, with every seat in Jakarta’s 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium scooped up – half in the first two hours of sales.

Indonesia, a secular country of 240 million people, has more Muslims than any other in the world. Though it has a long history of religious tolerance, a small extremist fringe has become more vocal in recent years.

Hard-liners have loudly criticized Lady Gaga, saying the suggestive nature of her show threatened to undermine the country’s moral fibre. Some threatened to use physical force to prevent her from stepping off the plane.

The chairman of Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), which planned to protest against the American artiste’s June 3 performance in Jakarta, said earlier:

“We will stop her from setting foot on our land. She had better not dare spread her satanic faith in this country. Her style is vulgar, her sexual and indecent clothes will destroy our children’s sense of morality. She’s very dangerous.”

Mariska Renata, a fan who had tickets to the Jakarta show, said: “I’m very disappointed.”

She said by bowing to the wishes of “troublemakers,” authorities only give them more power. “We are mature enough to be able to separate our own moral values from arts and culture,” Renata said.

Lady Gaga’s Asian tour started late last month and many of the stops have sold out. The South Korean concerts were limited to fans 18 or older because conservatives there raised objections.

Did Muhammad Exist?: “May the revolution begin”

DMEBook300.jpg
In “Uncovering Early Islam” in National Review today, Daniel Pipes discusses my new book Did Muhammad Exist?:

…In a well-written, sober, and clear account, [Spencer] begins by demonstrating the inconsistencies and mysteries in the conventional account concerning Mohammed’s life, the Koran, and early Islam. For example, whereas the Koran insists that Mohammed did not perform miracles, the hadith ascribes him thaumaturgic powers — multiplying food, healing the injured, drawing water from the ground and sky, and even sending lightning from his pickax. Which is it? Hadith claim Mecca was a great trading city but, strangely, the historical record reveals it as no such thing. The Christian quality of early Islam is no less strange, specifically “traces of a Christian text underlying the [Koran].” Properly understood, these traces elucidate otherwise incomprehensible passages. Conventionally read, verse 19:24 has Mary nonsensically hearing, as she gives birth to Jesus, “Do not be sad, your Lord has placed a rivulet beneath you.” Revisionists transform this into the sensible (and piously Christian) “Do not be sad, your Lord has made your delivery legitimate.” Puzzling verses about the “Night of Power” commemorating Mohammed’s first revelation make sense when understood as describing Christmas. Chapter 96 of the Koran, astonishingly, invites readers to a Eucharist.

Building on this Christian base, revisionists postulate a radically new account of early Islam. Noting that coins and inscriptions from the seventh century mention neither Mohammed, the Koran, nor Islam, they conclude that the new religion did not appear until about 70 years after Mohammed’s supposed death. Spencer finds that “the first decades of the Arab conquest show the conquerors holding not to Islam as we know it but to a vague creed [Hagarism, focused on Abraham and Ishmael] with ties to some form of Christianity and Judaism.” In very brief: “The Muhammad of Islamic tradition did not exist, or if he did, he was substantially different from how that tradition portrays him” — namely, as an anti-Trinitarian Christian rebel leader in Arabia.

It was only around 700, when the rulers of a now-vast Arabian empire felt the need for a unifying political theology, that they cobbled together the Islamic religion. The key figure in this enterprise appears to have been the brutal governor of Iraq, Hajjaj ibn Yusuf. No wonder, writes Spencer, that Islam is “such a profoundly political religion” with uniquely prominent martial and imperial qualities. No wonder it conflicts with modern mores.

The revisionist account is no idle academic exercise but, as when Judaism and Christianity encountered the Higher Criticism 150 years ago, a deep, unsettling challenge to faith. It will likely leave Islam a less literal and doctrinaire religion with particularly beneficial implications in the case of doctrines of supremacism and misogyny. Applause, then, for plans to translate Did Muhammad Exist? into major Muslim languages and to make it available gratis on the Internet. May the revolution begin.

Read it all.

Malians riot as Islamic supremacists impose Sharia

By Robert Spencer:

What? Don’t they know that Sharia is benign and completely compatible with humane values such as those enshrined in the U.S. Constitution? Have they been listening to greasy Islamophobes? Imam Rauf, you’re needed in Mali! These benighted folks need to learn to love Sharia — or else!

“Malians riot as rebels impose Sharia law,” from the Mail & Guardian, May 16 (thanks to Twostellas):

Amnesty International says Islamist groups and insurgents are ‘running riot’ after a military coup deposed the Bamako government in March.Attempts by Malian insurgents to impose Sharia law in the north of the country have sparked protests against rebel control.

Witnesses say Ansar Dine – the Islamic sect that controls much of northern Mali, together with Tuareg separatists the MNLA and al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb – fired into the air injuring five people during protests in the northern city of Gao, including one by a stray bullet.

“We received five wounded, including one by a bullet. They are all civilians,” a source at the hospital in Gao told the South African Press Association.

The protests come amid reports that rebels were intensifying attempts to impose sharia law in northern Mali, smashing TV sets claiming they were being used to play video games or watch content considered un-Islamic.

Ansar Dine blocked an aid convoy with tonnes of food and medical supplies for the northern city of Timbuktu on Tuesday, objecting to the presence of women in a reception committee set up for the aid.

Ah, the glories of Sharia.

Pamela Geller, Weekly WND Column, Defending the West “Shame on Bill O’Reilly”

My weekly column, Defending the West, over at WND is up. This week Bull O’Reilly gets taken to the woodshed for being an irascible, puffed-up tool.

Screen Shot 2012-05-15 at 10.09.55 PM

Shame on Bill O’Reilly

Exclusive: Pamela Geller indicts talker with fawning over radical Ground Zero imam

Bill O’Reilly had Ground Zero mosque radical Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf on for a full segment last week to shill the deceptive narrative of his latest book. In a telling moment, Rauf claimed during the segment to have lost “at least” 60 Muslims on 9/11. Only the Muslims separate out the Muslim dead from the rest (and that number of Muslims goes from 19 to 300). No other group points to the number of Christians or Jews, etc., who were killed on 9/11.

For his part, O’Reilly promised to pick up a hammer and help the imam build his Islamic center if Rauf “condemned terrorism.” What O’Reilly neglected to qualify was Rauf’s definition of “terrorism.” In Islam, terrorists are those who defend themselves against Islam. Under Islam, the definition of “terrorism” is resistance to Islam.

O’Reilly neglected to query how Rauf could claim to want to build a multi-faith center since, under Islam, non-believers are prohibited from praying in a mosque except when invited for dawah (proselytizing). Rauf said, “We have to fight against the extremists in all of our faith traditions.” This was patently dishonest. Rauf was trying to deflect attention away from the fact that only Muslim “extremists” are killing other people because of their faith. Christian and Jewish “extremists” – i.e. those who are devout the way Islamic jihadists are devout Muslims – aren’t committing violence in the name of their religion. Only Muslims are. Rauf and other Islamic supremacists hope you don’t notice that his call to fight against “extremism” is really a diversion of attention away from the only “extremists” who are violent.

O’Reilly never addressed Rauf’s idea of “peace.” Nor did he ask him about comments like this one: “In a true peace it is impossible that a purely Jewish state of Palestine can endure. … In a true peace, Israel will, in our lifetimes, become one more Arab [Muslim]  country, with a Jewish minority.”

Ground Zero mega-mosque Imam Rauf raised no objections to official calls for suicide bombing in America and Israel. In a revealing interview, Rauf said: “We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al-Qaida has on its hands of innocent non-Muslims. You may remember that the U.S.-led sanctions against Iraq led to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been documented by the United Nations. And when Madeleine Albright, who has become a friend of mine over the last couple of years, when she was secretary of state and was asked whether this was worth it, said it was worth it.”

No mention of the 270 million victims of over a millennium of jihadi wars, land appropriations, cultural annihilation and enslavement. No mention of the recent slaughter by Muslims of Christians, Hindus, Jews and non-believers in Indonesia, Thailand, Ethiopia, Somalia, the Philippines, Lebanon, Israel, Russia, China, Egypt, Nigeria, Iraq, etc.

Rauf exhibits no candor, and never comes close to any criticism of Islamic jihadists. He has even said: “Islam does not need a reformation.” He has also been dishonest about the Ground Zero mosque, which is now a “community center” nowhere near Ground Zero – but in December 2009, Rauf said in the New York Times: “New York is the capital of the world, and this location close to 9/11 is iconic.” The Times was clear, unlike now, that the location was crucial: “The location was precisely a key selling point for the group of Muslims who bought the building in July. A presence so close to the World Trade Center, ‘where a piece of the wreckage fell,’ said Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the cleric leading the project, ‘sends the opposite statement to what happened on 9/11.’”

Rauf is also a “prominent figure” in “The Perdana Organization,” which funded the genocidal Jew-hating terrorist group behind the murderous attack on Jewish soldiers on the warship flotilla that sailed against Israel in 2010.
